New Mexico State University is a Land-grant and Space Grant institution founded in 1888 that strives to be a great research university and a great Hispanic Serving Institution. Our vision is to excel in student success and social mobility for our diverse student populations, achieve the highest Carnegie research status (R1), and maintain our Carnegie Community Engagement classification. We confront global grand challenges through the lens of New Mexico and its borderland region. Critical infrastructures (water, energy, agriculture, and data), commercialization of Space, health disparities, border insecurity, and transforming education are key subjects of our research, scholarship and creative activity. In turn, the resultant student exposure and experience is a key component of our student success plan.
